OX OX OH is a new strategy game for one or two players based in the rules of tic-tac-toe. With strategy beyond being first to get three in a row, and the ability to deceive your opponent, players face interesting decisions every step of the way. Coming to iOS 2019!
This is a tool released on itch.io for exploring rules for 3 state hexagonal cellular automata. At the time I was messing around with rendering a hexagonal grid using a method similar to marching squares but with a single mesh and single shader. Experimenting more I found I could implement a cellular automata to be rendered in this style, and then make a tool to explore different rule sets, very much inspired by Loren Schmidt’s tool.
In late 2016 I’d just learned how to make basic shaders using C++ and OpenGL. At the time I didn’t have any work and decided to dedicate the beginning of 2017 to making one composition a day making use of shaders, this time in Unity using C# and ShaderLab/HLSL. I mostly posted them on Twitter at the time but those posts were lost when I moved to a new account in 2018. In total there were 55 days of shader compositions completed, and this is a collection of some of my favorites.
